Maybe there IS something to all this talk about global
warming, because we have certainly been ‘warmed’ this summer!
Most recently, they hit 113 degrees in Southern California - a new
record! It must be hard to go back to school before there’s a little nip
the in air to remind us
that summer’s over. Then again,
we could be in the snow belt and
have to contend with months of
being really cold.
We hope you received the first
online newsletter in June, and will
let us know how you like going
‘electronic’. If you did not receive
it and like the concept, please let
us know in case we do not have
your current email address.
You will be receiving an email
blast shortly to give you a calendar reminder for our Holiday
Open House and Trunk Show on Friday, December 10th. Check out the
details on page 4 of this newsletter.
Several of our patients with babies have been recruited to
assist our doctors in a training workshop to promote the Infant- SEE®
program. InfantSEE® is designed to identify eye problems during the
first year of life, but not all optometrists have had training in
examining a wriggling, maybe crying baby! So, our office offered this
welcomed opportunity during the Alabama Optometric Association’s annual
conference at the Wynfrey November 5th. By the way, please continue to
pass the word to family and friends about this on-going, free eye
assessment for infants age 6 - 12 months. Just have them call for an
InfantSEE® appointment.
We have enjoyed having yet another UAB optometry student
experiencing a little OJT with us and contributing to our
professional staff. “Dr.” Sheila Morris will graduate UAB School
of Optometry in May 2011 and will be with us for a little while
longer. Sheila did her undergrad at the University of Idaho and
lives in Pelham with her chemist husband Christopher, nine year old
Kaleigh, four year old Holden and pups Rocko and Buddy. Standing in the
wings, almost doc Aimee Lam, another 4th year UAB student who will
intern with us after the holidays.
In July, John and I drove to Oklahoma to celebrate

my mother’s 86th birthday. It was a long, warm ride for
a two-day visit, but well worth it to see so many family folks and share
a special day.
The fall holiday season is approaching, and those premature
holiday decorations won’t be far behind. We hope that each
holiday will be special for you and your family, and that the
coming year will be a happy, healthy one for all.
