Not
everyone can take a long weekend in New England to see the autumn
leaves. Alabama may not get cold enough to create the vibrant colors
found up north, but the changing, falling leaves mean something really
special here in Alabama…football!
All three doctors and just about everyone on staff attended the annual Alabama Optometric Association’s annual convention the first weekend of November. It provides a wonderful opportunity for continuing education and training, keeping us updated on the latest medical findings and technology. I have a new toy, a Kindle. I still love my real books, but the new electronic books do have a lot to offer. For example, being able to increase the size and contrast of the print is a big plus for me. It fits in my purse (sorry, fellas) and travels well; a new book selection is available with a touch of a button, and I can read the backlighted pages in bed at night. Professionally speaking, it’s a fact that after age 40, most of us need larger print and a lot more good lighting for reading. Also, patients with beginning symptoms of macular degeneration – loss of central vision - appreciate being able to magnify print without holding reading material up close to their faces. If you haven’t looked into the Nook or Kindle yet…. Mark your calendars now for our
Frame Trunk Show on December 9th. We’ve had
so much fun with these over the past three years that it has become an
annual event. We are partnering this year with Marchon Eyewear and A&A
Optical and there will be scads of the newest frames on the market for
you to see. |
We would like to wish you all a healthy and happy holiday season. We live in a wonderful country and have so many blessings. May the new year bring all good things! With warm regards, ![]() |
