Danielle Smith, OD

Danielle Smith, OD, is a full-scope optometrist in Arab, Alabama at EyeCare Associates. Dr. Smith's goal is to provide skillful eye care in Arab, AL, in a comfortable and professional environment. Knowing that the eyes indicate the health of the body as a whole, Dr. Smith makes it a priority to provide a thorough eye examination. She has had advanced training in several types of ocular diseases including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, dry eye, and macular degeneration. She is also trained in neuro-optometry and specialty contact lenses including scleral, multifocal, and myopia control contact lenses. She is passionate about her profession and is looking forward to serving the people of Arab and surrounding locations.

Dr. Smith was born and raised in Denton, Texas. She attended the University of West Florida where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Professional Biology in 2019. During her undergraduate schooling, she also worked as an ophthalmic technician for four years. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2023. While at UWF, Dr. Smith was awarded the Bob Kimble scholarship. She was a member of the University of West Florida Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership and Success. While at University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) School of Optometry, she received a merit scholarship for all four years. Dr. Smith was a member of the UAB School of Optometry Beta Sigma Kappa honor society and Private Practice Club.

Dr. Smith became an optometrist because she has a strong passion for the eyes and aiding in sight preservation. Her interest for the eyes developed during her experience working as an ophthalmic technician. She feels blessed that she was integrated into the field of optometry at such a young age, as it led to her finding her dream career. Dr. Danielle Smith insists that the sense of sight is one of the most important senses we have and takes pride in keeping her patients’ eyes healthy. In her free time, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time outdoors by the water and hiking in the beautiful state parks of Alabama. Dr. Smith loves spending time with her dog.
