Lynn Hammonds, OD

Lynn S. Hammonds, OD, is a board-certified optometrist in Birmingham, AL, who has held several distinguished positions and been recognized for being a leader in the optometric field. Dr. Hammonds attended the University of Georgia for her undergraduate degree, and obtained her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Optometry. After completing an optometric residency specializing in geriatrics and low-vision rehabilitation, Dr. Hammonds began practicing optometry in Hoover, AL.

During her over 30 years of practicing eye care in Alabama, she has been involved in organized optometry on the local, state and national level. Serving as the first female optometrist in the state to be elected to the Alabama Board of Optometry, Dr. Hammonds has also served as President of the Birmingham Area Optometric Society, President of the Alabama Optometric Association, President of the UAB School of Optometry Alumni Association and President of SECO International, a not-for-profit association acknowledged as the largest optometric education provider in the country.

Dr. Hammonds is married and enjoys travel, swimming and family time. She currently provides full-scope optometry at EyeCare Associates in Hoover, AL, where Dr. Hammonds is accepting new patients at this time.
